Bike4Life is organised by Midlands Air Ambulance Charity with support from the Safer Roads Partnership. Together the organisations raise awareness of biker safety, and donations to fund future lifesaving air ambulance missions. Midlands Air Ambulance Charity unfortunately responds to an average of two missions involving motorcyclists every week, so promoting biker safety is of vital importance.
The Safer Roads Partnership in Warwickshire and West Mercia is part of Warwickshire and West Mercia Police, and works in partnership with nine partner agencies to reduce casualties and make the roads safer for all.
The Partnership is responsible for the delivery of the police's road safety strategy across both Warwickshire and West Mercia. Working with agencies across the four counties, the partnership aims to reduce collisions and casualties on the roads through speed enforcement, road safety education, training courses and awareness raising campaigns.
The Partnership focuses its activity on numerous priority road user groups but one of major ones is powered two wheels.
Over the past three years (2013 - 2015) 36 people were killed and 484 were seriously injured in collisions involving motorcycles within Warwickshire and West Mercia.
The Partnership runs a series of campaigns, initiatives and education packages to try and ensure these numbers are reduced; one of which is the involvement with the Bike4Life Ride Out and Festival.
Bike4Life is also supported by:
Shropshire, Staffordshire, Cheshire Blood Bikes
Actions taken in the first few moments after an accident involving a motorcyclist can be crucial to minimising injuries, and can make a real difference to the lives of those involved.Would you know what to do?
Biker Down is a FREE training workshop run by emergency service professionals for bikers, and includes sessions with the police, Fire Service and Midlands Air Ambulance Charity. For more information about the ½ day Biker Down training in your area email firstname.lastname@example.org
If you are unfortunate enough to have an accident on your motorbike, ensuring the emergency services have the right information about you to hand could make the difference between life and death.
To help make their extremely challenging job easier at the scene, Midlands Air Ambulance Charity and Safety Roads Partnership have developed the life saving Bikers' Crash Card, which you can pop in your helmet.
Please note we can only post Crash Cards to UK addresses.
The Bikers' Crash Card scheme fundamentally helps paramedics and doctors to act fast in the event of an accident, especially if the biker is unconscious following a crash. The pack contains a small card for you to fill in some vital information such as your next of kin, blood group and any existing medical history. The scheme is recognised nationally by all emergency services and we urge all bikers to use the scheme.
